ECB chief executive officer Richard Gould has defended the ICC’s mooted financial carve up which projects the BCCI to earn US$ 230 million per year from 2024 to 2027.As part of a new revenue-distribution model, India are set to take home 38.5% of the $600m earnings over the next four-year commercial cycle. The ECB are the next highest earners in the proposed model, potentially earning $41.33 million (6.89%) with Cricket Australia next highest with $37.53 million (6.25%).The PCB is projected to make over $34.51 million (5.75%) leaving the remaining eight Full Members with below 5% of the earnings. The proposals, reported by ESPNcricinfo last month, are due to be ratified by the ICC and were met with complaints of further exacerbating the financial inequality throughout the game. Gould, who sits on the ICC chief executives committee, appreciates the disparity in real terms – even referring to the carve-up as “The Big One”, a nod to the Big Three carve up between the BCCI, ECB and CA in 2014 – but believes the proposals are justified and that India will do right by the global game, not just themselves.”When you see where that value is created, I think it’s understandable,” Gould said on the latest episode of The Final Word podcast. “There may be tweaks in the margins here or there, but the dominant position India is in is based on India’s ability to drive revenues and drive the sport forward. One point four billion people, one sport, ten [IPL] teams, one international team.”What I’m also fascinated by is India’s determination also to assist the world game. You look at the percentages and go ‘Well, that’s not fair it should be split equally’. But we’ve got to look at the size of the market. India play as many international fixtures as any other team in the world. And they do that because they know when they tour as an international team, they bring interest and revenue to that home side. I think it’s important to see things in the round, in that regard.”I get it (the financial inequality). But I also understand how important India is, because without them we wouldn’t have the kind of revenues that are coming into the game. And I do think India make huge efforts to be responsible partners in this when I see the amount they travel around the world, taking India everywhere. I do think it is a balance.”I think there is collective decision-making, both in India and within the ICC, and I think there is a real determination and understanding we need [for] cricket to be expanding and we need it to be healthy around the world.”Gould suggested that the money could be better shared around the game if boards pay touring sides, a shift from the current situation where host boards retain all revenue generated. Over the last few years, that situation has served to highlight inequalities throughout the game’s various markets, particularly when it comes to Test cricket.Full members like West Indies, South Africa and New Zealand are in the process of backtracking from red-ball cricket given the costs incurred to host Tests are not worthwhile as far as their own domestic deals are concerned, particularly at the expense of limited-overs fixtures. “When somebody tours England, we don’t pay them a fee, we don’t pay their players,” Gould said. “The way that it’s done in bilateral cricket at the moment is you retain your own home domestic revenues. And when you travel away, they received their domestic revenue. That’s where the disparity of markets comes in. That’s something we will want to and will need to look at in terms of encouraging people not just to play Test but make sure they can pay their players, and pay them well, so that they want to play Test cricket again.”More cricket being played around the world a ‘good thing’On the subject of franchise cricket, the former Surrey chief executive regards the increase in T20 competitions around the world as an example of cricket’s growth. Moreover, he is of the belief the upcoming Major League T20 in the United States can help the game reach new, high-yield markets.”You look at the T20 franchises and all these leagues that are being created – there is more cricket being played around the world now than there ever has been before. That has got to be a good thing.”And then there are mother markets in play. The States is an interesting market. What happens if we get cricket in the Olympics, which is in the States (Los Angeles, 2028)? There’s another key, pivotal moment for it. There will be some bumpy patches along the way in terms of what direction we take, but never mind that. Regarding the Hundred, the ECB’s own short-form competition, Gould held firm on previous comments that the competition is here to stay. He also doubled down on talk of a change from 100 balls to T20, saying the unique format helps the competition stand out among the crowd and in turn heightens the debate around the English game, allowing it to stay relevant. Now in its third year, and tied to a bumper broadcast deal that expires in 2028, Gould was unequivocal that English cricket needs the Hundred to compete effectively with the rest of the world.”You could argue it gives us a point of difference, in a very crowded market,” he said. “It is a point of difference.”You see the competition that we’re in globally now. Every country needs to have a super, primetime white ball domestic comp. We have invested very heavily in the Hundred over a number of years, both emotionally and financially. We need to make it bigger and better. We also have the Blast which we need to make bigger and better.”We are not going to take the Hundred out. We are going to make it bigger and better. We are going to make the whole of cricket, bigger and better. That is our aim. We want to do it in a really collaborative fashion where everyone feels they have a role, they have purpose and they have something to gain from this.”The format is not something that is on my agenda, in this regard, because Sky have been really supportive in driving it forward. It’s given us that point of difference. Everybody around the world, in the cricketing world, has heard of the Hundred. That’s a good thing. That’s a good thing – we like debate. When you look at sport, more than 50% of the coverage that we get is about the politics and the machinations of the sport rather than the sport itself. That’s a good thing too – as long as people are talking about the game, I’m pretty happy.”

أعلن نادي ريال مدريد في بيان رسمي تعرض فيديريكو فالفيردي لاعب الفريق الأول لكرة القدم للإصابة، وذلك عقب مواجهة ريال سوسيداد.
وفاز ريال مدريد على نظيره ريال سوسيداد بنتيجة 2/0، ضمن منافسات الجولة 38 والأخيرة من الدوري الإسباني، على ملعب “سانتياجو برنابيو”.

وأكد نادي ريال مدريد في بيان رسمي على تعرض لاعب وسط الفريق الأول لكرة القدم، فيديريكو فالفيردي، للإصابة عقب مباراة ريال سوسيداد.
وأشار إلى أنه تم تشخيص إصابة فالفيردي من قبل الجهاز الطبي للنادي الملكي، وتبين أنه أصيب بآلام أسفل الظهر

With a favourable run of games ahead, Arteta and his side will be hoping to put together a run of form like that which they have watched Manchester City manage in the last two seasons to ultimately beat them to top spot.

He is seen as a Spanish talent with huge potential, with Rising Stars XI taking to X to hail his “world-class” performance against local rivals Granada and adding that the forward is “a very technically gifted winger, a great shot creator and very fast”.
Though right-footed, he is comfortable playing on either side of attack and is out of contract this summer, meaning that he could leave for free in a matter of months.
And Caught Offside report that “Arsenal have been courting” the teenager and are leading the chase, though they “face stiff competition for the player’s signature”, with the report suggesting that a January move could be on the cards as Malaga look to receive a fee for their talent.
Any move would likely be a low-risk one from the Gunners, with Cordero unlikely to become part of the first team immediately given the current options in wide areas. Raheem Sterling, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus can all play across the front line as well as regular starters Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz, and Arteta is already trying to integrate one young talent in the form of Ethan Nwaneri, meaning that Cordero is unlikely to see much game time should he remain in north London.
A low-cost signing though, the Spaniard could arrive before being sent out on loan to gain more experience with a view to future integration.

The Scottish dynamo, signed from Dundee in the summer, certainly grasped his chance – scoring a brilliant goal to open the scoring for Celtic, weaving inside and out of challenges before finding the bottom corner.
He also completed 100% (2/2) of his attempted dribbles and created one chance for his teammates in the rest of his 75 minutes on the pitch.
The other star of the show for Celtic was the captain for the day – Johnston. The Canada international did score, with a header, in the second half but it was his defensive showing that really caught the eye.

As you can see in the table above, the right-back was dominant in his defensive duels, winning 80% of his physical contests, and was only dribbled past once.
The former MLS star also created one ‘big chance’ for his teammates, that they failed to take, and could have come away from the match with an assist to go along with his goal.
Whilst Johnston and McCowan were the stars of the show for Rodgers, there was at least one Celtic player who did not show the best of his abilities – Kyogo Furuhashi.

As you can see in the table above, Kyogo only completed one pass in 75 minutes on the pitch, failing with his other two attempts, and took four shots without scoring.
The Japanese attacker managed one shot on target and saw the other three blocked, whilst he also had fewer touches (ten) than goalkeeper Schmeichel (37), which illustrates his lack of impact.
These statistics show that the 29-year-old striker had a difficult day at the office, as his decision-making and quality in the final third left a bit to be desired and he failed to get involved in the build-up, with his one pass.
The experienced forward was then upstaged by the man who replaced him for the final 15 minutes of the match, as Adam Idah caught the eye off the bench.
Signed from Norwich in the summer, the Irish marksman scored, with a composed close-range finish, completed all four of his attempted passes and created a ‘big chance’ in those 15 minutes.
Rodgers must now consider brutally ditching Kyogo from the starting XI after a few underwhelming displays from the attacker in recent weeks.
Why Celtic should drop Kyogo Furuhashi
The right-footed striker should be taken out of the line-up when the Hoops face Dundee at Parkhead in the Premiership on Wednesday night.
He has produced one goal and one assist, both of which came in the first half against Aberdeen, in his last five appearances in all competitions for the Hoops.

Kyogo completed 12 passes in those five outings and this shows that the attacker has not offered much outside of his work in the final third, which has also been lacking aside from the opening 45 against the Dons at Parkhead.
Therefore, Rodgers must ruthlessly ditch the striker from the starting XI and offer an opportunity to Idah to lead the line in the Premiership on Wednesday night, hopefully motivating Kyogo to fight hard to win his place back for the game against Dundee United at the weekend.

As you can see in the table above, Idah has shown promise in his limited minutes on the pitch this season, with two goals in two starts in the Premiership.
He has also averaged more passes completed per game (4.7) than Kyogo (4.4) has managed in seven starts out of nine games, which suggests that the Irishman offers more to the team in build-play play.
His aerial duel success rate also shows that Idah is a valuable asset to Celtic when they need to play longer passes under pressure, as he has the physical qualities to win headers and hold the ball up.

He often matched them in the early stages, as he became known for the odd world-class goal, something which he perfectly demonstrated against Young Boys in 2020.
However, his second stint with the Red Devils was far from plain sailing, with the players often coming into question for various aspects of his game during his six years in Manchester.
Pogba often struggled with his fitness at United, even being forced to train away from the first-team squad during Michael Carrick’s temporary spell in charge back in 2020.
The French international was also quizzed over his best position in the side, with his attributes often not fitting the demands of various managers at the club.
It was largely unclear if he was more suited to a deeper role at the heart of the side or a box-to-box role – but ultimately it contributed to his downfall and subsequent exit.
He would leave the Red Devils for a second time in the summer of 2022, rejoining Juventus on a free transfer for the second time in his professional career.
However, a little over three years on from his exit, current boss Amorim may have stumbled across his next version of the fan-favourite in a somewhat unlikely source.

Despite Mainoo’s availability over the last few months, the United hierarchy have been on the hunt to land a new midfielder to help bolster Amorim’s squad.
Such an area of the pitch has been brought into question over the last couple of months, with claims that the side have often been overrun in that department – subsequently leading to their dismal league standing last season.
However, it appears as though the 40-year-old has somewhat put an immediate fix to the issue, as his side have claimed four wins in their last six outings across all competitions.
Amorim has even claimed back-to-back wins for the first time in his tenure over recent weeks, highlighting that he’s finally starting to realise what his best starting eleven is.
Despite fixing the midfield issue, he already has his next Pogba in the form of forward Joshua Zirkzee – a statement that may come as a surprise to many supporters.
Whilst the pair operate in hugely different positions during their respective periods with the Red Devils, they both possess serious similarities in numerous key areas.
