7/10 Celtic star has made himself undroppable before Old Firm clash

da spicy bet: Celtic took another step in the right direction as they attempt to win the Scottish Premiership title for the third season running with a 3-0 win over Hearts on Saturday.

da stake casino: The Hoops hosted the Jam Tarts at Parkhead and secured a comfortable victory in Glasgow, thanks to two first-half goals from Kyogo Furuhashi and a late penalty from Matt O'Riley.

Brendan Rodgers' side are bidding to ensure that they do not end the campaign without a trophy to show for their efforts, having been knocked out of Europe and the League Cup earlier this term, and have a huge match upcoming in the title race against Rangers next weekend.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers watches on.

One player who has played themselves into being undroppable for the Old Firm clash with his performances in recent weeks is forward James Forrest, who put in a fantastic display against Hearts.

James Forrest's performance against Hearts in numbers

The experienced winger was selected to line up on the left side of the attack on Saturday, with Daizen Maeda returning to the bench, and justified his selection with a fine showing.

Forrest, who was handed a match rating of 7/10 by the Daily Record, did not register a goal or an assist for his efforts throughout the afternoon against Steven Naismith's side but did offer quality in and out of possession.

The Scottish whiz had more touches (50) of the ball than Kyogo (20), who scored the first two goals for the Hoops, and this speaks to how frequently he got on the ball in an attempt to make things happen.

As you can see in the table above, the right-footed speedster created two chances, was efficient in his dribble attempts, and worked hard for the team defensively to make tackles in order to break up Hearts attacks.

Why James Forrest is now undroppable

The 32-year-old Celtic star has stepped up in recent weeks with a string of superb performances on the flank, which is why he should now be undroppable for Rodgers heading into the clash with Rangers at Parkhead next Saturday.

In his last seven appearances for the Bhoys in all competitions, Forrest has racked up an eye-catching four goals and one assist for the Scottish giants.

Celtic winger James Forrest.

Maeda – the manager's alternative option for the role on the left of the front three – has scored four goals and provided two assists in 23 Premiership starts this season.

This suggests that the Scotsman could, given his recent output in front of goal, offer more than the Japan international in the final third, which is why he deserves to keep his place in the team.

Forrest, who has won 52% of his ground duels in the league, also works hard for the team, as shown by his three tackles won on Saturday, to go along with his attacking actions.

The veteran forward should, therefore, be undroppable after his latest impressive showing on the left wing, given his superior attacking statistics in comparison to Maeda and red-hot form in the final third.

George Balderson, Danny Lamb give Lancashire promise of better times to come

County’s new blood makes inroads into Derbyshire’s batting at Aigburth

Liverpool’s pavilion might have been designed to host cricket in the Covidian age. For one thing it is huge. The three-storey pile was one of the largest in England when the ground was opened in 1881 and even now it could be mistaken for a venerable county headquarters. Certainly it was a splendid location for scenes in . During this game Lancashire have been allotted the enormous dressing rooms on the third floor while Derbyshire have the use of the squash changing rooms at ground level plus The Century Pavilion, which is normally used for hospitality, and a small tent on the boundary. The umpires have their own facilities so there is no need for either teams or officials to come into contact beyond the boundary. But after yesterday morning’s play Derbyshire probably appreciated the chance to have time to themselves. A score of 17 for 4 hardly creates the ideal atmosphere for small talk over the melon and couscous. Billy Godleman’s men probably preferred to take tea alone, too, given that by the second interval they had subsided to 71 for 7 against a Lancashire attack four of whose five members had not played any first-class cricket before the Bob Willis Trophy began.Facing a deficit of 138 and with only three wickets in hand, it was easy to see how Lancashire might build a position of Vizigothic dominance by the close. Too easy, perhaps. There has been a healthy helping of Peak District grit about Derbyshire’s cricket this season and this was apparent again in a gloomy and glorious evening session during which Harvey Hosein and Mattie McKiernan added most of the 59 runs in their unbroken eighth-wicket partnership. It may not be enough to save Derbyshire from defeat in this match, much less give them a hope of the victory they need to qualify for the Bob Willis Trophy final. But it was fine cricket and all it needed to make it perfect was the appreciation of supporters who knew good stuff when they saw it.Qualification for the final at Lord’s final must wait for the third or fourth day of this game when the results of the games at Chelmsford and Worcester are known. To judge from various discussions everything seems to depend on a range of factors, which may include the Doppler Effect, the Turkish bank rate, the Brexit withdrawal deal, Jurgen Klopp’s inside-leg measurement, the average temperature in the Atacama Desert, the mating pattern of Mexican spiders, Priti Patel’s IQ and the length of time it takes to cook a cheese soufflé in the Hindu Kush. At some stage we will add the points up and see who’s got the most.None of it troubles Lancashire’s coaches. Their side’s chance of reaching the final has long since disappeared and they are enjoying the sight of a fine crop of young cricketers making the most of their opportunities. And no one did this with greater relish during this heavily clouded Monday on Merseyside than Danny Lamb and George Balderson, both of whom took three wickets. In the second over of Derbyshire innings, Lamb pitched one on off stump and the left-handed Luis Reece edged a catch to George Lavelle, thereby becoming the keeper’s maiden first-class victim. In Lamb’s next over Godleman departed in like fashion except that his snick was taken by Keaton Jennings at first slip. Three balls later Leus du Plooy played across a very full inswinger to give Steve O’Shaughnessy another easy decision. And just before the persistent rain showers prompted a two-hour lunch break Wayne Madsen played outside a straight ball from Balderson and was leg before to one of Lancashire’s most promising cricketers. On the resumption Matt Critchley and Fynn Hudson-Prentice attempted to rescue the innings. It was not a foolish quest; Derbyshire’s short season has contained many wonders. But having helped Hudson-Prentice add 27 for the fifth wicket Critchley fell, and was nearly felled, when he ducked into a full toss from George Burrows and was leg before wicket for 14 when patently playing no shot. Some thought the ball might have been missing off stump but their number did not include Graham Lloyd. And there was no doubt about the slip catches taken by Tom Hartley and Jennings which subsequently removed both Hudson-Prentice and Anuj Dal off the bowling off Balderson. Hartley’s low catch was particularly fine and there is currently scarcely a session that passes without him or Balderson showing something which proclaims their professional pedigree. Lancashire will not win the Bob Willis Trophy but this has been a valuable season for the club. It is good news in these febrile times.

Ratcliffe ready to sell £350,000-a-week Man Utd player who regrets joining

da 888casino: Manchester United are ready to sell a £350,000-a-week player this summer who reportedly regrets joining the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s busy Sunday

da esoccer bet: Sir Jim Ratcliffe had a frantic Sunday, running the London Marathon before heading over to Wembley to watch Man Utd’s FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City.

When he arrived at Wembley for the second half, the Red Devils were in control of the tie before giving up a 3-0 lead to the Championship side. They almost threw it away in extra time but managed to prevail on penalties, with Ratcliffe saying prior to the game that patience is required among the Old Trafford fanbase.

“We're not there with football yet. One of the biggest problems with football is you get these new guys coming into the team, they're capable people but they're all on gardening leave. It's a big problem in football. The fans are impatient. It's a journey, they have to be patient. It's not a light switch. We will turn it around.”

Ratcliffe’s gardening leave comments appear to point towards Newcastle United’s Dan Ashworth, who is wanted as sporting director at Old Trafford. Should Ashworth arrive in time for the summer, he may work closely with new technical director Jason Wilcox, who has joined from Southampton. A number of incomings and outgoings could be on the cards ahead of Ratcliffe’s first full season as co-owner, and by the looks of things, they are ready to sell one player.

Man Utd ready to sell Casemiro

According to Football Insider, Man Utd are ready to sell Casemiro this summer. This comes after a poor performance at Wembley where the Brazilian turned out at centre-back alongside Harry Maguire, missing his penalty in the shootout.

Sources have told FI that ‘United now feel Casemiro is unsuited to their side and are ready to consider offers for his services in the summer’, looking to get his huge £350,000-a-week base salary off the books at Old Trafford.

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.

Casemiro hasn’t exactly had the best of times in Manchester lately, with Jamie Redknapp slamming the 32-year-old midfielder after United's draw against Bournemouth earlier this month.

“I love watching him play. But right now he looks like he’s in Soccer Aid. He looks like he’s playing at such a pace where the game is a bit of fun and there’s celebrities coming on the pitch. No. This is the Premier League, you’ve got so much experience. That isn’t the case of anything else apart from running.”

ByTom Lever Apr 22, 2024

There have also been reports this season that Casemiro ‘regrets’ his decision to leave Real Madrid for Man Utd back in 2022, so parting ways with the midfielder could be best for all involved this summer. The Red Devils also appear to have replacements lined up for the Brazilian, with Fluminense defensive midfielder Andre a reported concrete target, so the coming months could represent a new era both on and off the pitch.

Former England allrounder Laura Marsh has announced her retirement from all forms of cricket.Marsh, 33, called an end to her international career late last year after being left out of the England squad and has now cited the postponed launch of the Hundred as one of the key reasons behind her full retirement. She had been due to play for Oval Invincibles in the new format but the Covid-19 pandemic forced the ECB to move the opening season to 2021.”I have made the decision to retire from all forms of cricket. With the cancellation of The Hundred competition this year, I feel that it is the right time to hang up the boots,” Marsh wrote on Twitter. “I want to say a huge thank you to all the teams and organisations I have represented over the years.”I owe a huge amount to both Kent & Sussex for the role they played in my development as a player.”Big thanks also to The Surrey Stars, Sydney Sixers, NSW Breakers and Otago Sparks. Every team I played for developed me as a player and a person and I am fortunate to have made some lifelong friends and memories over the years.”

8/10 Nottingham Forest ace looked back to his best vs Wolves

da 888: Nottingham Forest claimed a vital point in their hunt for Premier League survival at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon, after the 2-2 draw against Gary O'Neil's Wolves side.

da betcris: The Reds fell behind with just minutes remaining in the first half after a brilliant strike from forward Matheus Cunha flashed past the helpless Matz Sels and into the top corner.

However, former Wolves man Morgan Gibbs-White brought Nuno Espírito Santo's side level just before the interval, before linking up well with Brazilian midfielder Danilo in the second half to put Forest into the lead.

The lead would be short-lived with Cunha grabbing his second of the game just minutes later, with either side unable to go on and claim all three points.

One Reds player, in particular, enjoyed a brilliant display against their Midlands rivals, proving himself to be a key player under Nuno in recent weeks.

Danilo's stats against Wolves

22-year-old midfielder Danilo has started each of the Reds' last three Premier League outings, cementing his place as a regular starter after his recent impressive performances.

However, yesterday might have been his best game in a Forest shirt since Nuno's arrival, with the Brazilian dominating the midfield and even having a positive impact in the final third – scoring the second goal for Nuno's side in an end-to-end encounter.

His impressive display didn't stop there, with Danilo also managing 67 touches and completing 39 of the 48 passes he attempted during the meeting, achieving a pass completion rate of 81%.

He was just as successful in the final third, registering three shots, all of which were on target, as he added a needed threat in front of goal due to the absence of winger Anthony Elanga.

The Brazilian also won 75% of the duels that he contested, making two interceptions and one tackle as the box-to-box midfielder was crucial at both ends during the draw.

Danilo was awarded an 8/10 match rating from Nottinghamshire Live's Forest correspondent Sarah Clapson, with the youngster receiving the joint-best rating alongside fellow goalscorer Gibbs-White.

At times this campaign, he's certainly lacked confidence, but this weekend he looked back to his best and replicated his good form from the back end of last season that saw the youngster score three goals in as many games against Brighton, Southampton and Brentford.

The man to partner Danilo going forward

After nailing down his starting role at the base of Nuno's three-man midfield, Danilo has often been partnered with various teammates such as Ibrahim Sangare and Ryan Yates.

The latter started the game yesterday, before making a horrendous error gifting the ball to the visitors, with Murillo saving the midfielder with his excellent goal-line clearance.

Danilo and Murillo

Nicolas Dominguez was brought on in the 66th minute, with the Argentinian proving why he should start alongside Danilo after four recoveries and 26 passes in just 24 minutes – tallies that were both better than Yates despite featuring for 42 minutes less.

His relentless work rate makes the former Bologna man a perfect fit alongside the 22-year-old, with Nuno needing to deploy the pair together to help ensure Premier League survival for Forest this season.
